Hiking Mount Kenya Through Castle Forest: My Experience

Image
So recently I picked up long distance running and hiking as a hobby (in addition to blogging), and I must say it has been quite eventful. So earlier this month I joined a group of young individuals to hike the Mt. Kenya. Don’t worry we didn’t get to the top or anything like that, cause climbing the Mt. Kenya to its peak takes about 7days minimum, at least that’s what our guide told us. Anyways we hiked one slope of the Mountain (through castle forest) about 18km in distance. So, on the D-day, I woke up very early around 4am, cause the bus meet up time was 6am at Nairobi. I made sure I was fully hydrated and energized. Got everything checked from my water bottle to my fruit snack to my camouflage face cap and shorts. Just so you know I’ve been looking for an opportunity to rock these “camo” shorts. Anyways, we got to the entrance leading into the mountain, we did some few cardio and we started hiking. I was a bit quiet for most of the hike. Met some new guys, but I just wasn’t inte

FAILURE !!!

Image
You just opened that email and got your first regret mail for a position you thought you were 99.9% sure to get, or maybe it's your tenth regret mail. Either way you feel like a loser, down, dejected and sad. Worst case scenario you feel like a fraud especially if you are a high achiever, the impostor syndrome starts to kick in and you start to doubt your own abilities. Failure is never really a good thing. Nobody wants to fail, nobody likes failing, that's why some people would prefer to not try at all, than to try and fail. Though not trying at all could prevent you from achieving your fullest potential. One bad thing about failure is that you start to envy your colleagues who "seem" to be doing better. You don't necessarily hate them, you hate yourself. But you shouldn't. It's okay to hate the situation, but don't hate yourself and never doubt your abilities. Work harder to be better, persevere and the breakthrough will eventually come. T

WHAT A YEAR IT WAS: 2018

Image
Truly, this year has been eventful. Experienced a whole lot, new environment, faced a lot of challenges, had great times, had sad times. Despite all that happened in 2018, I've learnt to be GRATEFUL for even the smallest things we often take for granted.                                                                         Sometimes in life we feel we aren't achieving up to our expectation, sometimes we feel are problems are just so messed up. But we should always remember that there are some people who have it worse. So be grateful for the little you have. This year came with a lot of personal disappointments and it has really taught me how to cope with failure. It has also taught me that the perseverance and persistence will always get you there. 2018 has taught me the importance of Family and true friendship. I hope 2019 brings about a lot of good tidings. Let me use this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year come 2019.

INFUSING DATA INTO THE NIGERIAN ENERGY (POWER) SCENE

Image
The two main things that would continually increase in future are Energy demand and Data. So there has to be a way of managing this growing energy demand. The world's population is growing significantly daily, in Nigeria alone we are approaching 200 million people, and these 200 million people require energy to meet their daily needs. Also quintillion bytes of data are generated daily world wide. We can easily appreciate the power of data in the recent Facebook data scandal with Cambridge Analytica . Data is being infused in so many things, so why not infuse it into the Nigerian Energy (Power) scene. This brings about Energy Analytics.                                             According to  enertiv  Energy Analytics  describes the process of collecting electrical data and applying sophisticated analytical software and algorithms to deliver insights around consumption and time of use reductions.  Energy Analytics is gaining traction and currently been used by many ener

RISKY BUSINESS

Image
I had always been quite a conservative, one who favors stability to uncertainty. But for one to really achieve self-actualization one has to take risk. The truth is you can be GOOD or you can be GREAT, but to be great you need to take a great risk. And often time this is scary, cause what if I take this risk and end up not being great, what if I take this risk and fall far far away from my aim. These WHAT IF questions are honestly scary when you think about them, especially when you see people who took great risk and ended up failing. But that is life. Life itself is a risky business and those who make the most profit from this business are those who take the most risk. The thing is you can decide to stay in your comfort zone and enjoy the stability which isn’t a bad idea. But I tell you this, you will never feel satisfied because you would be asking yourself a different kind of WHAT IF question this time around. You’d ask, what if I actually took that risk could I have made a

FEARS

Image
No matter how brave you are or how courageous you may act, there is always that one thing that you are scared of. Now fear doesn’t necessarily have to be physical, at times we fear things we can’t see (non-physical). I know most people, especially the motivational speakers would say we shouldn’t have fears, they say things like you should fear nothing but fear itself, some argue that fear isn’t real, that it is a choice, and we can choose not to be afraid. Now I agree with this school of thought to an extent, not completely though. Also one thing I’ve noticed is that we always paint our fears as bad, and this isn’t always the case. At times our fears are good, yes I said it, good, well you should keep in mind that this “good” is relative. Sometimes our fears keep us in check, a person who is afraid of having STI would most likely refrain from “unsafe” sexual acts. A person scared of spiders would always make sure he/she has a neat room to avoid cobwebs and spiders. Now to my

CHRONICLES OF AN NYSC MEMBER"CORPER" PART 1

Image
So, after being postponed like four freaking times, the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) camp was eventually confirmed to hold on the 27th of April 2016. Alas, i could finally tell people who doubted if i actually did graduated, that i was off to camp. i'd already bought my things about 2 months before so i was fully prepared and eager to get to camp . In my mind i thought camp was going to be fun, filled with a lot of flexing and partying (at least that was what i was told) but my case was quite different from the assumed norm. Maybe it was just me because most of my co-corp members all said they had fun. It had to definitely be just me because i really didn't catch much fun in camp.                    I resumed at the issele uku orientation camp in delta state, a day ahead of the official resumption date, guess i was too eager and so were many other people because i met a crowd of similar people all waiting to be addressed by the NYSC officials. I saw a lot of peo
