RISKY BUSINESS

I had always been quite a conservative, one who favors stability to uncertainty. But for one to really achieve self-actualization one has to take risk. The truth is you can be GOOD or you can be GREAT, but to be great you need to take a great risk. And often time this is scary, cause what if I take this risk and end up not being great, what if I take this risk and fall far far away from my aim. These WHAT IF questions are honestly scary when you think about them, especially when you see people who took great risk and ended up failing. But that is life. Life itself is a risky business and those who make the most profit from this business are those who take the most risk.

The thing is you can decide to stay in your comfort zone and enjoy the stability which isn’t a bad idea. But I tell you this, you will never feel satisfied because you would be asking yourself a different kind of WHAT IF question this time around. You’d ask, what if I actually took that risk could I have made an impact? What if I took that risk, would I have succeeded (guess you’d never know)?


I know it’s not easy to take certain risk, but I encourage you to take that risk. I also need to put a caveat here, cause in as much as I encourage you to take risks, always make sure you take calculated risk, have a plan, think about all contingencies. I cannot tell you how the journey would end, but I can tell you that everything you would experience along the way would shape you into something better. In hindsight you would never regret, cause it is better to shoot and miss than not to shoot at all. And what if you eventually hit your target, I tell you this fact, that the euphoria  you shall feel shall surpass that gotten from any recreational drug.

No matter how brave you are or how courageous you may act, there is always that one thing that you are scared of. Now fear doesn’t necessarily have to be physical, at times we fear things we can’t see (non-physical). So, after being postponed like four freaking times, the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) camp was eventually confirmed to hold on the 27th of April 2016. Alas, i could finally tell people who doubted if i actually did graduated, that i was off to camp. i'd already bought my things about 2 months before so i was fully prepared and eager to get to camp . In my mind i thought camp was going to be fun, filled with a lot of flexing and partying (at least that was what i was told) but my case was quite different from the assumed norm. Maybe it was just me because most of my co-corp members all said they had fun. NIGERIANS AND THE "PHONEE" SYNDROME: FAKE ACCENT OR BI-DIALECTED

Okay, one peculiar thing, i've noticed about Nigerians is the ease at which some of us switch in between accent. One moment we are speaking in our normal accent and the next moment we miraculously start speaking in a british accent, when you have never left the shores of Nigeria. Nigeirans who have stayed abroad for a while are also guilty of this, most of them hide under that fact that they have stayed abroad for some weeks or even a year and as such they have "naturally" picked up the foreign accent. But then i begin to wonder, majority of the foreigners living here in Nigeria still retain their home country's accent even after staying here for years.                       I have never believed that it is possible for an individual to naturally have two accent, its either one accent is natural to you and the other accent is learned or in other words fake.
