WHAT A YEAR IT WAS: 2018

Truly, this year has been eventful. Experienced a whole lot, new environment, faced a lot of challenges, had great times, had sad times. Despite all that happened in 2018, I've learnt to be GRATEFUL for even the smallest things we often take for granted.                                                                         Sometimes in life we feel we aren't achieving up to our expectation, sometimes we feel are problems are just so messed up. But we should always remember that there are some people who have it worse. So be grateful for the little you have. This year came with a lot of personal disappointments and it has really taught me how to cope with failure. FEARS

No matter how brave you are or how courageous you may act, there is always that one thing that you are scared of. Now fear doesn’t necessarily have to be physical, at times we fear things we can’t see (non-physical). I know most people, especially the motivational speakers would say we shouldn’t have fears, they say things like you should fear nothing but fear itself, some argue that fear isn’t real, that it is a choice, and we can choose not to be afraid. Now I agree with this school of thought to an extent, not completely though. Also one thing I’ve noticed is that we always paint our fears as bad, and this isn’t always the case. At times our fears are good, yes I said it, good, well you should keep in mind that this “good” is relative. Sometimes our fears keep us in check, a person who is afraid of having STI would most likely refrain from “unsafe” sexual acts. NIGERIANS AND THE "PHONEE" SYNDROME: FAKE ACCENT OR BI-DIALECTED

Okay, one peculiar thing, i've noticed about Nigerians is the ease at which some of us switch in between accent. One moment we are speaking in our normal accent and the next moment we miraculously start speaking in a british accent, when you have never left the shores of Nigeria. Nigeirans who have stayed abroad for a while are also guilty of this, most of them hide under that fact that they have stayed abroad for some weeks or even a year and as such they have "naturally" picked up the foreign accent. But then i begin to wonder, majority of the foreigners living here in Nigeria still retain their home country's accent even after staying here for years.                       I have never believed that it is possible for an individual to naturally have two accent, its either one accent is natural to you and the other accent is learned or in other words fake.
